Chinese new year

Chinese new year

Kung Hei Fat Choi is how you wish people a happy new year in China. You might hear this saying all around the world because there are lots of Chinese people  and  Communities in different places. Chinese people have celebrated this very old tradition for fifteen days every year for a very very long time.

A long time ago a monster liked to scare people every year. The people were very afraid of the dragon so the people wore red and lit fireworks and played drums to make noises to scare the dragon away.

In the Chinese New Year they use the colours red and gold. Red represents good luck, and gold represents wealth.

Chinese new year ends with a lantern festival and parade led by the dancing dragons and lions. Chinese people do these dances because they are recreating and telling stories.

Today i have learnt about the Chinese new year is a festival celebrated
with families and the Chinese new year is a special celebration that is celebration
all over the world it is a festival celebrated with families.

The people in my local community

I used Tagul to create this word cloud that shows who the people are in our local community. A community is a group of people who live in the same place (eg: Panmure), or have a common connection (eg: the Niuean community).

Te Taiao O Tamaki

Today we watched a video of the performances at Te Oro. Some students at Panmure Bridge School went to Te Oro to present and to perform. All of the schools in Manaiakalani performed and I think their performances were amazing. They live streamed the performances so the people who couldn't come to Te Oro could watch it. The people who were performing made our school proud.
